My brother was just diagnosed with amyloidosis after by-pass surgery and 6 weeks in ICU at the University of Michigan Hospital. Tissue samples have been sent to Mayo Clinic to determine exactly where this disease has taken hold in his body.

Just had a call form a friend of a patient with this disease who has stated that his friend is deteriorating fast. To me, this is a bone marrow disorder and it wold make sense that a BMT or cord blood stem cell transplant would be a viable cure especially if it is a potentially terminal situation.
