    Hi Eric,

Many people I’ve spoken with have found Nascent Iodine very beneficial. At least 5 others with fibro have benefitted. Others have found it helped them lose weight if they needed to lose weight. Several people have found it stopped flaking skin. All have said they have much more energy and they had learned to cope with fatigue so long ago they didn’t recognize they had fatigue.

There are numerous possible causes of fibromyalgia. I can’t say that I’m cured though I’m much improved.

I’m unsure about MS symptoms Eric. There’s a great 80 page book called “What Your Doctor Fails to Tell You About Iodine & Your Thyroid” by Robert Thompson MD. He explains that lack of iodine is related to numerous health conditions including breast, prostate, ovarian and other cancers; fibrocystic breast disease; obesity; infertility, menstrual disorders and miscarriages; Parkinson’s disease and other brain disorders; allergies and asthma; and of course thyroid disorders.

It’s that we ingest increasing amounts of halide and halogen compounds that the need for additional iodine exists. Fluoride, bromide and chloride all compete for the iodine receptors in our bodies (dogs and cats also!). Those compounds have a much longer half life in the body than iodine does. Depending on the organ iodine has a 5-20 day half-life. Sex organs it’s a 5-day half life for example. So if you have the flu and throwing up and are brushing your teeth with fluoridated toothpaste, you likely don’t have enough iodine and some fluoride will attach to a receptor. It happens so slowly. Even if you eat all organic food you ingest some bromine fluoride on a semi-regular basis. And many medicines contain bromine or fluoride! All but one SSRI contains fluoride. I was stunned to see how I progressed to severe fibromyalgia and realize various illnesses and ailment my friends and family were suffering could be of similar origin.

Check out this article from Maggie of MaggiesHolisticsNY.com. She has cured various illnesses with nascent iodine and is a holistic health coach. Even ADD and ADHD.

Again great info and articles. I have always known iodine for disinfecting skin before and after surgeries, but not as a supplement. Makes sense, although I wonder how using as supplement would effect your natural gut microbiome, especially after reading this exert from the article you posted? Iodine has bactericidal activity, e.g. a 1% tincture will kill 90% of bacteria in 90 seconds, a 5% tincture in 60 seconds and a 7% tincture in 15 seconds. Killing your gut microbiome seems counter intuitive?
