This guy was diagnosed with lung cancer, but the write up is about how bad this country is at servicing patients! Great read! Regardless of having great doctors and technology, with a failing system of delivering medical care mistakes are made and many fall through the holes! I was one of them in my opinion! Medical Care Excellent but the…[Read more]

John I relate to those words so much its almost like I wrote them. I definitely feel that upon my diagnosis and for a year after, my providers were not honest with me and gave me treatments that they knew would cause me great harm but had not chance of curing my leukemia. Very unethical, and this was at one of the largest most well renowned…[Read more]

Eric do you think that maybe the goal was to prolong your life long enough until there was a trial that would work?

Thank you Gracie! I don’t think they gave it that much thought to be honest. They are under orders to offer specific treatments and not discuss alternatives, so they were always in crisis mode and didn’t have time to advocate for patients. If that was their goal they did not vocalize this to me. I guess the biggest issue I have was the lack of…[Read more]

  • PTSD has a way of weaving a web into your every thought and action. One hallmark symptom of PTSD is hyper vigilance. I barely realize I navigate through each day watching for threats, but I do. Thank you so much Melissa for joining WeHeal and for helping others by sharing your story! I also suffered extreme PTSD after 2 years on my deathbed fighting cancer with docs saying I had not chance of survival, and having every patient I met during those two years die. It was a battle scene in its own way, one that is very…[Read more]

  • Thank you Todd! It is so frustrating to be denied treatment that you rightfully deserve. After going through years of extensive medical treatment, much of it on my deathbed fighting cancer and unexpected to survive, I know what it feels like to go through extensive trauma and then just be thrown back into the world without and transition or…[Read more]

  • The much-discussed backlog of disability claims at the VA— about half a million claims have been pending for more than four months— is primarily an administrative and political issue, not a medical one. The problem is one of processing benefits claims, and the resources that we choose to dedicate to processing claims. Doctors and other medical pro…[Read more]
